HB103 (Riddle R-A) Relating to the use of force or deadly force in defense of a person. (Castle Doctrine) Referred to Criminal Jurisprudence Committee 1/29/07.

HB176 (Bailey D-A) Relating to the authority of certain counties to enact noise regulations. Noise regulation. This bill will be amended to make it clear it does not apply to shooting ranges or hunting. Referred to County Affairs Committee.

HB182 (Betty Brown R-A) Relating to the authority of certain counties to enact noise regulations. Noise regulation. This bill will be amended to make it clear it does not apply to shooting ranges or hunting. Left pending in County Affairs Committee.

HB220 (King, Phil R-A+) Relating to the rights and liabilities of an employer with respect to the carrying of a concealed handgun. Employer Parking Lots Voted favorably from the House Law Enforcement Committee.

HB233 (Ritter D-A) Relating to a waiver of concealed handgun license fees for certain members and veterans of the military. Waives all CHL fees for active and honorably discharged military. Voted favorably from the Defense Affairs & State-Federal Relations Committee..

HB242 (Alonzo D-D) Relating to certain warning signs required on certain premises. Exempts law enforcement from TABC warning signs and 30.06 signs. This is totally unnecessary and is presented by a "D" rated Representative. This would make other amendments to 30.06 germane. Bad Bill. Referred to Law Enforcement Committee.

HB258 (CorteR-A) Relating to the confiscation of firearms and ammunition during a state of disaster. (Anti-Confiscation Bill) Voted favorably from the Defense Affairs & State-Federal Relations Committee. Note: SB112 is the Senate companion Bill that passed and is now in the Senate.

HB284 (Driver R-A+) Relating to the use of force or deadly force in defense of a person. Castle Doctrine. Tabled on the floor of the House, since SB378 achieved Final Passage on 3/20/07.

HB297 (Farrar D) Relating to the offense of cruelty to animals. Dangerous bill for many reasons, including anti-hunting. Referred to Criminal Justice Committee.

HB308 (Kuempel) Relating to the use of laser sighting devices by hunters who are legally blind. Recommended for Locan & Concent Calendar..

HB511 (Farabee D-A+) Relating to the rights and liabilities of an employer with respect to the carrying of a concealed handgun. Left pending in the House Law Enforcement Committee.

HB594 (Davis, Yvonne D-F) Relating to the creation of certain offenses concerning firearm sales at gun shows. Referred to Law Enforcement Committee

HB595 (Davis, Yvonne D-F) Relating to requiring a waiting period for the purchase or sale of a handgun; creating an offense. Referred to Law Enforcement Committee

Another employer parking lot bill Like HB992, this bill creates a new provision in the Labor Code. It is not limited to CHL's and it does not require employer notification. Left pending in the House Law Enforcement Committee.

HB1263 (Flynn) Relating to possession of firearms and ammunition in certain foster homes. Referred to teh Human Services Committee.

HB1503 (Lucio) Relating to allowing certain assistant district and county attorneys to carry weapons. Allows assistant district and county attorneys to carry guns anywhere a LEO can, if they have a CHL. Referred to Law Enforcement Committee.

HB1815 (Isett A+) Relating to the prosecution of certain offenses that involve carrying weapons on a person's property or in a person's vehicle. Motorist Protection Act Public hearing on Monday, March 26, 2007 in Law Enforcement Committee.

HB2112 (Davis) Relating to banning handguns and certain other weapons from parking areas associated with schools or educational institutions; providing criminal penalties. Bans guns on all public and private school real estate owned or leased, including parking lots. Referred to the Law Enforcement Committee Significant amendments will be made to this bill to make it acceptable to CHL holders. Rep. Patrick has worked hard on this Bill.

HB2774 (Geren) Relating to areas of an airport where weapons are prohibited; providing a penalty. Makes large areas of airports off-limits to CHL's. Referred to Criminal Jurisprudence Committee.

HB3635 (Turner F) Relating to procedures to limit the carrying of handguns by persons other than peace officers on certain premises used for law enforcement. This is a bad bill as written. However, a committee substitute will be adopted that will make it acceptable. Referred to Law Enforcement Committee.

HB3844 (Hilderbran) Relating to the use of certain weapons in or on the beds or banks of navigable rivers or streams in certain counties; providing a criminal penalty. Referred to Culture, Recreation and Tourism Committee.

SENATE BILLS:

SB112 (Carona R-A) Relating to the confiscation of firearms and ammunition during a state of disaster. (Emergency Powers & Anti-Confiscation Bill) This bill would prevent a New Orleans-style gun confiscation during an emergency. Passed the Senate on a 30/0 vote.

SB122 (Deuell R-A+) Relating to the confidentiality of certain records maintained by the Department of Public Safety regarding persons licensed to carry a concealed handgun. Referred to State Affairs Committee 1/29/07.

SB283 (Gallegos D) Relating to the authority of certain counties to enact noise regulations; providing a criminal penalty. Noise regulation. Referred to the Intergovernmental Relations Committee.

SB322 Deuell (R-A+) Relating to possession of firearms and ammunition in certain foster homes. This bill prohibits governmental agencies from prohibiting the possession of any guns or ammunition in a foster home. Voted favorably from the Health & Human Services Committee.

SB378 (Wentworth R-A+) Relating to the use of force or deadly force in defense of a person. Castle Doctrine This bill has 28 of 31 Senators as co-sponsors. Final passage on March 20, 2007. Bill now goes to Gov. Perry!

SB534 (Hegar R-A+) Relating to certain rights and liabilities of an employer regarding an employee's access to a concealed handgun. Employer parking Lots Southwest Airlines-type of notification, with additional job protection. Voted favorably as amended from the Criminal Justice Committee.

SB535 (Hegar R-A+) Relating to the possession or shooting of a handgun on the land of the Lower Colorado River Authority by a person licensed to carry a concealed handgun. Legalized carrying on LCRA property by CHL's. LCRA currently allows CHL's to carry, but there is a conflict. This is a clean-up bill. Placed on Senate Consent Calendar, March 21, 2007.

SB739 (Williams) Relating to the rights and liabilities of an employer with respect to the carrying of a concealed handgun. Employer parking lots. Referred to the Criminal Justice Committee.

SB1003 (Harris) Relating to areas of an airport where weapons are prohibited; providing a penalty. Greatly expands the area of an airport that is off-limits to a CHL.[/b] Referred to Criminal Justice Committee.

SB1709 (Hegar) Relating to procedures to limit the carrying of handguns by persons other than peace officers on certain premises used for law enforcement. This is a companion bill to HB3635 and is also bad bill as written. However, a committee substitute will be adopted that will make it acceptable. Referred to Criminal Justice Committee.
